Czech Challenge Wishes to Do a Good Deed
The D+D REAL Czech Challenge tournament takes on another dimension. Sports and charitable activities go hand in hand and acts of kindness for those in need form an integral part of the projects of RELMOST. The organizer of the upcoming Challenge Tournaments and the European Tour tournament in August has developed a cooperation with the DOBRY SKUTEK („good deed“) organization. This entity focuses on supporting individuals who find themselves in a difficult life situation and cannot manage without an outside help. We want to provide support by collecting financial funds. One of these fundraisings will take place during the D+D REAL Czech Challenge tournament and other tournaments.
„Our aim is to provide help through golf for those with health issues and limitations. We focus on children but have also developed a special program for elderly citizens. Accompanying activities for families, handicapped and the elderly members of our community will always be an inseparable part of our tournaments. We have created interactive programs for them,“ explains Petr Dedek, the owner of RELMOST, the promoter agency.
During the event on Kuneticka Hora, we are organizing a fundraising to support a young man called Vojtech Navratil. At the age of twenty, he is fully wheelchair-dependent. In childbirth, he underwent a severe brain damage which affected his musculoskeletal system. Vojtech is not able to manage his wheelchair on his own. His mom has asked Dobry Skutek for help and RELMOST has decided to contribute. The purpose of this fundraising is to provide means to send Vojtech for a remedial stay in a well-known rehabilitation center in Piestany, Slovakia. The goal is to raise 70 000Czk. This is Vojtech’s story as it was told by his mother:
Vojtech Navratil
My name is Lenka Chvatalova and I would like to use this opportunity to ask you for a financial help for my son Vojtech Navratil, who is twenty years old. He was born prematurely March 13, 1994 (two months too early). In childbirth, unfortunately, he underwent a serious brain damage and was diagnosed with DMO. His musculoskeletal system was affected and Vojtech is fully wheelchair-dependent, while not being able to manage his wheelchair on his own. Vojtech is fully dependent on the help of others when it comes to even the most basic needs such as hygiene or social interaction. The positive news is that the injury has not affected his intellect and he has been performing very well at school since the first grade. He is currently a sophomore in high-school based in a town called Jihlava, where they focus on humanities and social studies. His results have been exceptional. It is such a shame that Vojtech cannot live the same quality life as his peers. Thanks to his high intelligence, he is fully aware and suffers from seeing his own limitations. I have never given up and have always tried to change his fate, ever since he was born. Up until he was 10 years old, I would perform the Vojtova method 5 times a day. When surpassing the age of 10, this method stopped being effective. Since then we have been performing various stretching and strengthening exercises and have bought a treadmill and rehabilitation equipment. We kept Vojtech in shape for several years; his state was neither worsening, nor improving. Shortly before Christmas of 2012, we learned about the rehabilitation center ADELI in Piestany, Slovakia. The 14-day stay is not covered by any insurance. That is why we are trying to get the money wherever we can. The first time we invested our savings in this, the results were very successful. They taught us the right types of exercises and, working out two hours every day, we can see that Vojtech is getting closer to his dream, step by step. To reach the best results, it is necessary to undergo the therapy in Piestany at least twice a year. We had the possibility to repeat the therapy once again in June last year and were again very happy with the results. We paid both of these stays with our savings and after taking some loans. We cannot, however, afford another expense of this sort and I have no other choice but to ask for help. Every mom wants nothing but to see her child happy and seeing my son standing on his feet, even if using crutches, would be the happiest moment for me too.
My husband performs exercises with Vojtech every day for two hours. Shortly before the end of last year, Vojtech had to quit school due to his health issues. Even though his grades were great, we were no longer able to combine school and rehabilitation together. We had to make a choice for whatever is best for our son and will try to do our best to enable him to become as self-sufficient as possible. We don’t go on any vacations and use all our money to save up for the stay in ADELI. Until now, we have never used an outside help of any organization. You are the first one we have dared to ask and we are very grateful for your help. I am tired already but me and my husband will never give up and try to make him walk, at least with the crutches. His dream is to pass the exams to become a professional translator and to translate books. I have been paying for his language courses so he can get closer to what he desires to do, just like his healthier peers.
I would like to ask all the generous donors to help us get enough money for another stay in the ADELI Center.
Thank you all in advance on behalf of the entire family.
Kind regards,
Lenka Chvatalova
